30% Tax Credit

In August 2022 the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law, supporting the growth of renewable energy. The new law extended the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit which includes an increase of the 30% tax credit from $30,000 to $100,000 for alternative vehicle refueling property. In short, your business can receive 30% of total EV charging station installation costs up to $100,000.

Utility Rebate

Ameren Illinois provides a rebate of 50% of project costs or $5,000 per Level 2 charger (whichever is less) for 3 types of businesses: workplaces, multi-family properties, and public entities like shopping centers, publicly accessible facilities, and retail stores. The maximum number of chargers eligible for the rebate is 10 for a workplace or multi-family property and 6 for public charging stations.

Funding Expiration

The program is set to run until the original $6 million funding is depleted. As of December 2023, funding is depleted for workplace EV chargers, however may still be available for multi-family and public entities.
